2 Weeks Left of the Pregnancy

I have two more weeks left of this pregnancy. For the past month, I have been doing the elliptical machine and lifting light weights at the YMCA about 4 to 6 times a week. Unfortunately, though, the weight gain continues. According to my last doctor's appointment, I have now gained a total of 49 pounds. I am betting I have gained 4 pounds since that appointment... dang holiday food...

I have done some research on where the weight gain in pregnancy goes, and found the following to seem the most accurate:

Pregnancy Weight Gain

Baby = 7.5-8.5 lbs
Amniotic Fluid = 2 lbs
Placenta = 1.5 - 2 lbs
Breast Tissue = 1.5 - 2 lbs
Blood Volume = 3 lbs
Uterine Muscle = 2 - 2.5 lbs
Water = 4 lbs

This totals 21.5 - 24 lbs of weight that will definitely go away with recovery time after labor. However, then there are the "fat stores" that most pregnant women must gain. Since most recommendations are to gain 25 to 35 pounds during the entire pregnancy (hah, weak sauce), that means a fat store of 3.5 to say 13.5 pounds is decent.... Riiiight. Not for me. Thankfully, I decided to listen to my doctor, who said my weight gain is good for me. Every woman is so different. I have found that it is always important to ask a doctor before youe take what you read on the internet or in books literally!

I found this great article on pregnancy weight gain that is both encouraging and helpful! I really like this quote from it:

"First of all, no matter what you weigh prior to pregnancy you must gain weight... Weight gain does things for you and your baby... Remember you are growing a new human being."

Hope this will make you feel better, but I gain 55 pounds from having Lucy and no matter what I did I gained weight. But unfortunantly for me breastfeeding didnt help at all. But I just stopped 3 weeks ago and now I am starting to loose weight finally. I have been joggin 2-3 times a week and started eatting like what I did pre-pregnancy and i just lost 2 pounds this week. So it can be done. But hopefully you wont be like me and get depressed when it doesn't start "melting" off like so many people told me it does :)
